Old blank blackboard with wooden rectangular frame and nails. Isolated on white background

Weber Yates’s dreams of stardom are about to be reduced to a ranch hand’s job in Texas, and his one relationship is with a guy so far out of his league he might as well be on the moon. Or at least in San Francisco, where Weber stops to see him one last time before settling down to the humble, lonely life he figures a frog like him has coming.

Cyrus Benning is a successful neurosurgeon, so details are never lost on him. He spotted the prince in a broken-down bull rider’s clothing from day one. But watching Weber walk out on him keeps getting harder, and he’s not sure how much more his heart can take. Now Cyrus has one last chance to prove to Weber that it’s not Weber’s job that makes him Cyrus’s perfect man, it’s Weber himself. With the help of his sister’s newly broken family, he’s ready to show Weber that the home the man’s been searching for has always been right there, with him. Cyrus might have laid down an ultimatum once, but now it’s turned into a vow—he’s never going to let Weber out of his life again.

Before the review, check out this AMAZING cover for the manga edition which is currently out in Korea, and will be out by Christmas in the US!

Review word and pen

I will not merely say I love this book. No! That phrase is too light. This book is one of my favorites of all time. I absolutely adore Weber Yates, a broken cowboy who so desperately needs a home, but who refuses to take one that’s offered to him. Weber feels that a man only has worth when others see it, and he doesn’t understand how Cy–a world class neurosurgeon–can want him. Oh, but there is so very much to want when it comes to Weber.

This man is the epitome of a good-hearted, sweet-natured person. He exudes goodness and purity of heart. When Cy’s sister is deserted by her rotten, no-good, bas…sorry, Weber says we shouldn’t talk poorly about people’s parents. But when he leaves his family, they quickly latch on to Weber, a strong mountain of a man (literally, if you go by Micah’s drawing) who is the key to happiness in all of their lives.

I could wax lyrical about this book. The feelings it brings out in me (especially with one word, Micah breaks my heart and mends it perfectly) are there for everyone to see. Weber doesn’t hide who he is. He doesn’t see his worth, can’t believe those around him can see it. He wants to have others lean on him, but this time, he has to learn it’s okay to lean on others, especially those you love. Others will say it much better than I ever could, but Frog is…a Prince of a book.

Frog gets my highest possible recommendation. To know this book, is to love the characters, and the person who put their stories to page.

I’m not really one for audiobooks, but after hearing from others who say how amazing it was, I am so very tempted.
