Never let go of the one you love.
After recent traumatic events, Olly is finding it hard to get his head around what happened. While he tries to deal with a maelstrom of emotions, renovations at The Edge are in full flow, alongside preparations for tenth anniversary celebrations. Joe, his Dom, recognizes Olly’s delicate state of mind and does his best to reassure him. A trip to the New Forest with their friends, Aiden and Heath, helps the healing process.
Returning home, Olly and Aiden focus on preparations for the party. When Aiden is called away, Olly takes a walk to clear his head, keeping his eye on a brewing storm. To his horror, he discovers Mark Vickery, an old enemy, has landed on the island by boat and is out for revenge.
With Olly missing and the storm raging, Joe, Heath and Aiden set out on a rescue mission that unfolds in a way none of them expected. Can the storm wash away the past or will Olly and Joe’s future be destroyed by a twist of fate?
If you asked me to choose my favorite characters in an M/M book, Olly would be very near the top (which is funny, because he’s so far from being a top….) He’s brash, bold, funny as hell, and a total brat. He’s also madly in love with his Dom, Joe. Everything Joe does brings Olly peace of mind, from spankings to orgasm denial, Olly will do anything Joe asks, just because it’s Joe. And Joe is so in love with Olly, it’s hard to imagine not having Olly in his life. But… Yeah, always a but isn’t there? When Joe gets word that Mark Vickery, the man who allowed Olly’s abuse, has been freed from prison, he does whatever is necessary to protect his boy. And therein starts our tale.
Joe wants to get away for a while. So with Heath and Aiden, he takes Olly to the new business some friends of theirs are opening for a little rest and relaxation. The exchanges between Olly and Aiden, who is such a different type of sub, are hilarious, but there is love between them, too. This new place that’s being opened is a sort of bed and breakfast for those in the BDSM lifestyle. The location sounds amazing, and I’d like to visit just to see the wild horses that he takes pictures of.
There are so many things going on in this story. Planning for an event that Olly and Aiden have taken over, and now Olly is fretting it won’t be perfect. A meeting between Joe and Heath where Joe drops an epic bombshell on his best friend. And, of course, the specter that hovers over them all, Mark Vickery, whose reach is long.
The Edge has been an incredible series, and I’m going to be sad to see it end. L.M. has given us some wonderful characters, brought a lot of fun, and more than a share of tears. If you haven’t started the series, now is a good time to do it, because you’re going to want to see how it all ends. Tears, heartache, and feels all around for everyone!
