Alpha Unit One: Book Two
Nicky Reed may have won the battle regarding baby shifters working as policemen, but he’s not so sure about the war. His mate and superior officer, Sam Black, is still overprotective with a capital O. As a result, Nicky sometimes finds himself repressing some of Tiny’s—his snow leopard cub other half’s—natural urges. Which leads to frustration on Nicky’s part.
With a new drug called Nemesis killing in record numbers, Alpha Unit One must find out who’s behind this horrible narcotic and get it off the streets—a tall enough order without press accusations that baby shifters are to blame for the team’s lack of success.
Their investigation into Nemesis leads Nicky and Sam and the rest of the team into unexpected waters. Will the stress rip the squad apart? The baby shifters may find themselves unable to perform the job they love: protecting the people of New York City. And Nicky may be in over his head—in more ways than one.
In 2018, Chris T. Kat released a surprise book, Alpha Unit One, New York. It was a totally unique take on shifter stories where some adults morphed into a baby version of their animals. Nicky, for example, became a snow leopard baby called ‘Tiny’, who was cute and rambunctious. Oh, and quite the little troublemaker (as kittens are wont to do).
However, Nicky had aspirations. He wanted to be a cop. The problem? In this world, baby shifters aren’t allowed to do dangerous jobs, because people decided they needed to protect them. In order to do what he wants, Nicky games the system by doing what he had to in order to bypass the protections in place for baby shifters. His problems, however, started when he found out that his mate, Sam, was in charge of the task force Nicky found himself assigned to.
I’m not going any deeper into book one, because you really should read it. Instead I’m going to talk about ‘Nemesis’, which is Alpha Unit One: Book Two.
Nicky and Sam are back, and they’re hot on the heels of the bad guys who not only have no problems blowing things up, but have no compunctions about selling…well, for that you need to read the book.
Yes, it’s true! Chris T. Kat is back with book two of the Alpha Unit One world, and the gang is up to their pits with trouble. The bad guys are stepping up their game, but their MO isn’t quite the same as it was in book one. It’s almost as if there are other hands in the mix.
In this book we get more of Nicky and Sam who are trying to find out why the bad guys have a need for hippo shifter blood. Yes, you read that right. In this world, you’ll get to see hippo shifters, dolphin shifters, and more! It’s such a thrill to see something that steps outside the box where shifters are concerned.
If you like action, humor, sexy men, strong women, and a group who are dedicated to saving lives, you should read this series. I strongly recommend it to my shifter loving friends.
